Carcharhinus coatesi (Whitley 1939) — Australian whitecheek shark

Status at New Ireland. First recorded from New Ireland by White & Ko'ou (2018: 33), based on earlier report from Ningin Island, New Ireland as Carcharhinus dussumieri (non Müller & Henle [ex Valenciennes], 1839) by Munro (1958: 112).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 3.—General distribution: northern Australia to New Guinea. Found on coral reefs, shallow lagoons, reef flats and seaward reefs, 0–123 m depth. Marine.
