Status at New Ireland. First recorded from off south of Ambu Village, western New Ireland by Borodulina (1978: 54); NTUM material (1 specimen, St. CP 4431-8, northeast of New Hanover; 1 specimen, St. CP 4433-11, north of Kavieng).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2, 3.—General distribution: Circumglobal in tropical and warm temperate oceans. Bathypelagic, 0–2000 m depth. Marine.
