Status at New Ireland. First recorded from southwest of New Hanover by Kenaley (2007: 895), based on USNM 292401.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1.—General distribution: Circumglobal in tropical and warm temperate seas, in the Northern Hemisphere also in cold temperate seas. Bathypelagic, 500–3886 m depth. Marine.
