Status at New Ireland. New record, from Kavieng District, based on NTUM material (1 specimen, St. CP 4433-1, north of Kavieng).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Indo-West Pacific: South and East Africa, Seychelles and Madagascar east to Philippines and New Guinea, north to off southern Japan, south to Lord Howe Island. Bathypelagic, 716–1350 m depth. Marine.
