Status at New Ireland. First recorded from off New Hanover and St. Mathias Group by Mukhacheva (1974: 194).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 4.—General distribution: Circumglobal in tropical and warm temperate seas. Mesopelagic and bathypelagic, 25–4938 m, usually 300–800 m depth. Marine.
