Status at New Ireland. First recorded from New Ireland by Kailola (1975: 50); record confirmed by Møller & Schwarzhans (2008: 133). USNM material.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea, Seychelles and Mascarenes east to Marshall Islands and Samoa, north to Ryukyu and Ogasawara islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. In crevices in coralline rock in coral reefs, 0–20 m depth. Marine.
