Myctophum brachygnathum (Bleeker 1856) — Short-jawed lanternfish

Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Cape Lambert-Kalili Harbour, New Ireland as Myctophum pristilepis by Munro (1958: 121).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 3.—General distribution: Philippines east to Hawaiian Islands, south to northern Australia. Bathypelagic, 1–856 m depth. Marine.
