Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens observed at Kavieng fish market in 2004–2005 by Jeff Kinch during CFMDP Survey.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Seychelles east to Tuamotu Islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia. In coastal waters, 0–6 m depth. Marine.
