Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed in 2012 at New Hanover by Gerald R. Allen.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1.—General distribution: Andaman Sea and Indonesia east to Vanuatu, north to southern Japan, south to Western Australia, Queensland (Australia) and New Caledonia. Found in seaward reef areas, 6–40 m depth. Marine.
