Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimen photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District, 7 m depth, by Dean Tully on 22 Sept. 2012.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Red Sea, East Africa, Seychelles, Comores and La Réunion east to Wake Atoll, Marshall Islands, Samoa and Tonga, north to Ryukyu and Ogasawara islands, south to Western Australia, Queensland (Australia) and New Caledonia. Found on seaward reef slopes, 5–90 m depth. Marine.
