Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken in Senta Pass, east of New Hanover at 5–12 m depth, St. KR 114, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell), and another taken off Nusa Island, Kavieng District, 2–18 m depth, St. KR 32.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Red Sea, East and South Africa and Mascarenes east to Philippines, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to New Caledonia, Western Australia. Found in sheltered areas of offshore reefs, 20–65 m depth. Marine.
