Status at New Ireland. First recorded from islands off Kavieng, New Ireland by Dawson (1982: 672), based on USNM 217478. Specimens photographed at Lissenung Island by Dietmar Amon on 17 May 2011.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: New Guinea and Solomon Islands east to Marshall and Society islands. Found in sheltered reefs and lagoons, on algae, sponges, and in caves and crevices, 1–10 m depth. Marine.
