Status at New Ireland. New record, based on by NTUM 11415 (1 specimen, 180.3 mm SL, St. KM12, Tome Village, Kavieng District, 2°42.105’S 150°52.847’E, freshwater/brackish transition, 5 June 2014) . WAM material.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Sri Lanka and India east to Society Islands, north to southern Japan, south to New Caledonia. Found in estuaries, rivers and streams, 0–5 m depth. Freshwater, transitional water and marine.
