Aeoliscus strigatus (Günther 1861) —Hinged shrimpfish
Status at New Ireland. First recorded from St. Mathias and Kavieng, New Ireland as Centriscus strigatus by Duncker & Mohr (1925: 6) and Mohr (1937: 25), based on ZMH 11908, 11909. NTUM 11304 (1 specimen, 72.1 mm SL, St. CP4490-3, off northwest side of New Hanover).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2, 4.—General distribution: Andaman Islands east to Pohnpei (Micronesia), north to southern Japan, south to Queensland (Australia) and New Caledonia. Usually in schools in coral reefs, sometimes seeking refuge among sea urchin spines, 1–42 m depth. Marine.
