Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District at 20 m depth by Dean Tully on 21 Sept 2012; a video of a specimen taken off southern New Hanover, at 4–51 m depth, St. KR 110, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: East Africa east to Marshall and Society islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found on steep seaward reef slopes, 4–50 m depth. Marine.
