Satyrichthys laticeps (Schlegel 1852) —Giant armoured gurnard

Status at New Ireland. New record from New Guinea, based on NTUM 11346 (4 specimens, 88.2–182.3 mm SL, St. CP 4497-1-4, northwest of New Hanover).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1.—General distribution: East Africa east to Papua New Guinea, north to southern Japan. Benthic, on the continental slope, 58–300 m depth. Marine.
