Epinephelus corallicola (Valenciennes [ex Kuhl & Hasselt] in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1828)—Coral grouper

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens observed by Jeff Kinch during CFMDP Survey at Kavieng fish market in 2004–2005, and by Barry C. Russell during 14–28 June 2014; a video of a specimen taken at Nubilus Island, off eastern New Hanover, 3–25 m depth, St. KR90, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Malaysia and Indonesia east to Philippines and Solomon Islands, north to Taiwan, south to New Caledonia. Solitary or in small groups on silty inshore reefs, including estuaries, 1–30 m depth. Transitional water and marine.
