Epinephelus radiatus (Day 1868) —Oblique-banded grouper

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on NTUM 11209 (1 specimen, 29.6 mm SL, St. CP 4456-3, northeast of Bangatang), and NTUM 11302 (1 specimen, 38.6 mm SL, St. CP 4489-20, northwest of New Hanover).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Red Sea, East Africa, Comores and western Mascarenes east to New Britain (Papua New Guinea), north to southern Japan, south to Western Australia and Queensland (Australia). Found above hard substrate, 18–383 m depth. Marine.
