Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens observed by Jeff Kinch during CFMDP Survey at Kavieng fish market in 2004–2005, and collected by Barry C. Russell on 28 June 2014.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Malaysia and Indonesia east to Philippines and Vanuatu, south to Queensland (Australia) and New Caledonia. Solitary on silty coastal reefs, 0–20 m depth. Marine.
