Cephalopholis sonnerati (Valenciennes in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1828) —Tomato grouper

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens collected in Kavieng District by Barry C. Russell on 21 and 28 June 2014.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: East Africa east to Line Islands and Samoa, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia. Found in lagoon and seaward coral reefs, 10–150 m depth. Marine.
