Status at New Ireland. New record, based on NTUM 11404 (1 male, 39.4 mm SL, St. KB 14, northeast of Nusa Island, Kavieng District, 02°34.009’S 150°47.085’E, 10 m depth, 7 June 2014).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: South and East Africa east to northern Line Islands and Pitcairn Group, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northwestern Australia, Lord Howe Island and Tonga. Secretive in caves and crevices of coral reefs and coralline rock, including tidal pools, 0–65 m depth. Marine.
