Grammatonotus crosnieri (Fourmanoir 1981) —Long-tailed groppo (Fig. 59)
Status at New Ireland. New record from off New Hanover and Kavieng, New Ireland, based on NTUM 12131 (1 specimen, 51.5 mm SL, St. CP 4253-16, 14, 5 km eastnortheast of Tsoilaunung Island), NTUM 12679 (1 specimen, 51.5 mm SL, St. DW 4473-1, off eastern side of Bauddisson Island), NTUM 12136 (1 specimen, 37.5 mm SL, St. DW 4477-1, off southeastern Manne Island), NTUM 12452 (2 specimens, 33.5–34.7 mm SL, St. DW 4484-2, northwest of New Hanover), NTUM 12138 (1 specimen, 37.5 mm SL, St. DW 4494-2, off northwestern New Hanover), and NTUM 12133 (1 specimen, 54.2 mm SL, St. CP 4501-8, 5.1 km westnorthwest of Kavieng).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Malaysia to Philippines. Benthopelagic, 149–469 m depth. Marine.
Remarks. This represents not only a new record from the Southern Hemisphere and from New Guinea, but also new depth records towards shallower and deeper water, as the species was previously only reported from 170– 400 m depth.
Additional specimens were collected east of Normanby Island, Milne Bay Province, Papua New Guinea, NTUM material (1 specimen, 36.4 mm SL, St. CP4316-3, 09°49’S 151°34’E, 150–180 m depth, R/V Alis, 3 May 2014), and in Ainto Bay, southwestern New Britain, NTUM 12132 (1 specimen, 26.9 mm SL, St. CP 4335-14, 06°05’S 149°18’E, 240–250 m depth, R/ V Alis, 7 May 2014) .
