Pictichromis paccagnellorum (Axelrod 1973) —Royal dottyback (Fig. 60)

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed on 4 June 2013 during ACIAR Aquarium Survey in Kavieng District (see Teitelbaum et al. 2013: 15); others photographed at St. KVG18 (south side of Bauddisson Island, Kavieng District) by Serge Andréfouët on 18 Aug. 2014; a video of a specimen taken at Nubilus Island, off eastern New Hanover, at 3–32 m depth, St. KR 88, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Central Indonesia east to Solomon Islands, south to northwestern Australia. Found in coastal or seaward reefs, 5–40 m depth. Marine.

Remarks. This species was previously named Pictochromis paccagnellae; the name should be paccagnellorum as it was named after the Paccagnella family (see Axelrod 1973).
