Plectropomus maculatus (Bloch 1790) —Spotted coral grouper

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens observed in Kavieng District by Barry C. Russell during 7–28 June 2014; a video of a specimen taken at Anelaua Island, off eastern New Hanover, at 3–16 m depth, St. KR 98, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Philippines and Solomon Islands, south to northern Australia. Found on silty coastal reefs, 5–50 m depth. Marine.
