Status at New Ireland. New record, based on USNM 395783 (1) from Nusa Island, Kavieng District; a specimen observed south of Nemto Island, New Hanover, 1–12 m depth, St. T 24, on 7 Nov. 2006, by Gerald R. Allen.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Andaman Sea east to Philippines and New Guinea, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found in aggregations in crevices and among branching corals, in sheltered, coral-rich lagoon and seaward reefs, 1–20 m depth. Marine.
