Ostorhinchus jenkinsi (Evermann & Seale 1907) —Spot-nape cardinalfish
Status at New Ireland. First recorded from New Ireland by Allen & Erdmann (2012: 395). Specimens photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng at 3–8 m depth by Dean Tully on 2 July 2011 and 2 Sept. 2012; a video of a specimen taken at Alexander Passage, off southeastern New Hanover, at 5–14 m depth, St. KR 96, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Southern Indonesia east to Solomon Islands, north to Philippines, south to northern Queensland (Australia). Found in coastal, lagoon and seaward coral reefs, 3–45 m depth. Marine.
