Status at New Ireland. First recorded from New Ireland by Gill (2004: 142), based on USNM material. NTUM 11435 (1 specimen, 27.0 mm SL, St. KB 46, Senta Pass, Nusakelo Island, Kavieng District, 02°34.581’S 150°32.998’E, 8 m depth, 18 June 2014).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Eastern Indonesia east to Marshall Islands, north to Ryukyu and Ogasawara islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Solitary or in pairs in crevices in coral reefs, 0–30 m depth. Marine.
