Status at New Ireland. New record, based on NTUM 11208 (2 specimens, St. CP 4456-1-2, northeast of Bangatang).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Southern Red Sea, Indo-West Pacific: Gulf of Aden and Seychelles east to Philippines and Samoa, south to Western Australia and Queensland (Australia). Found in lagoon and seaward coral reefs, 15–134 m depth. Marine.
