Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens observed at Kavieng fish market in 2004–2005 by Jeff Kinch during CFMDP Survey.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Circumglobal in tropical and warm temperate seas, in western Pacific north to southern Japan, south to northern New Zealand. Oceanic, pelagic, near the surface, 0–100 m depth. Marine.
