Verulux cypselurus (Weber 1909) —Swallowtail cardinalfish

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken on north coast of Manne Island, Kavieng District at 1–11 m depth, St. KR 36, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); another taken at Nubilus Island, off eastern New Hanover, 3–25 m depth, St. KR 90, in 2014.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Red Sea, Persian Gulf and East Africa east to Marshall Islands, Fiji and Tonga, north to Japan, south to Western Australia and New Caledonia. Forming aggregations above corals and in caves, 2–15 m depth. Marine.
