Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Lihir Group, Namatamai District, New Ireland by Fry et al. (2006: 129).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 5.—General distribution: Red Sea, East and South Africa and Mascarenes east to Hawaiian Islands, north to southern Japan and Ogasawara Islands, south to northern Western Australia, Queensland (Australia), New Caledonia and Tonga. Found on deep reefs, 100–330 m depth. Marine.
