Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens observed at Kavieng fish market in 2004–2005 by Jeff Kinch during CFMDP Survey.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Northern Australia to Papua New Guinea. Adults are found in lagoon habitats, juveniles in estuaries, 2–63 m depth. Transitional water and marine.
