Selar boops (Cuvier in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1833) —Oxeye scad

Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Kulineua River, New Hanover by Munro (1958: 180). Specimens observed at Kavieng fish market in 2004–2005 by Jeff Kinch during CFMDP Survey.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Caroline Islands and Fiji, north to Taiwan, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Pelagic, in large aggregations, 5–500 m depth. Marine.
