Status at New Ireland. First recorded from St. Mathias by Duncker & Mohr (1929: 61), based on ZMH 11955.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 4.—General distribution: East Africa east to Fiji, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia. Adults found in coral and rocky reefs, juveniles in mangrove estuaries, 0–80 m depth. Transitional water and marine.
