Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Kalili, New Ireland by Kailola (1987b: 295).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 3.—General distribution: Pakistan east to Philippines, Papua New Guinea and Vanuatu. Found in coral reefs and on seaward reef slopes, 10–30 m depth. Marine.
