Scolopsis bilineata (Bloch 1793) —Two-lined monocle bream (Fig. 74)

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed on 1–2 June 2013 during ACIAR Aquarium Survey in Kavieng District; another photographed at St. KVG26 (off western Bauddisson Island) by Serge Andréfouët on 23 Aug. 2014; a video of a specimen taken off Nubilus Island, off southeastern New Hanover, at 3–32 m depth, St. KR 88, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Maldives and Sri Lanka east to Caroline Islands and Fiji, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and Lord Howe Island. Solitary or in small groups, in sand-rubble areas adjacent to coral reefs. Juveniles mimic Meiacanthus grammistes, 0–25 m depth. Marine.
