Scolopsis affinis Peters 1877 —Peters's monocle bream
Status at New Ireland. Originally described from Carteret Harbour, Lambom, New Ireland, by Peters (1877: 832), based on ZMB 9584-9585 (2 syntypes); a video of a specimen taken off Bauddisson Island, Kavieng District, at 2– 35 m depth, St. KR 58, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); another taken off southeastern New Hanover at 3– 16 m depth, St. KR 98, in 2014.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2, 3.—General distribution: Andaman Sea east to Caroline and Solomon islands, north to Ryukyu islands, south to Timor Sea (northern Western Australia). Found on sand bottoms of lagoons and in coastal reefs, 5–35 m depth. Marine.
