Wattsia mossambica (Smith 1957) — Mozambique large-eye bream

Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Lihir Group, Namatamai District, New Ireland by Fry et al. (2006: 129). Specimens observed by Jeff Kinch during CFMDP Survey at Kavieng fish market in 2004–2005.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2, 5.—General distribution: East Africa east to Philippines, Wallis and Futuna and Samoa, north to southern Japan, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found in deep reefs at the outer edge of the continental shelf, 100–200 m depth. Marine.
