Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken off Nusaum Island, Kavieng District, at 9–18 m depth, St. KR 76, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); another taken off Patio Island, southeast of New Hanover at 5–14 m depth, St. KR 96, in 2014.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: India east to Philippines and New Guinea, north to southern Japan. Found on sand or rubble bottoms near coral reefs, 15–80 m depth. Marine.
