Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed at Kavieng fish market by Barry C. Russell on 14 June 2014.
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Philippines and New Guinea. Found on sand or rubble bottoms near coral reefs, 20–80 m depth. Marine.

Status at New Ireland. First recorded from Lihir Group, Namatamai District, New Ireland by Fry et al. (2006: 129).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 5.—General distribution: Red Sea, East Africa, Seychelles and Comores and Mascarenes east to Marshall Islands, Line Islands and Marquesas Islands, north to southern Japan, south to Western Australia, Queensland (Australia), New Caledonia and Tonga. Found on sand or rubble bottoms near coral reefs, 20–170 m depth. Marine.
