Coradion melanopus (Cuvier in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1831) —Two-eyed coralfish

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District at 20 m depth by Dean Tully on 9 July 2011.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 2.—General distribution: Southern Indonesia east to Philippines and New Guinea, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to Solomon Islands. Found in pairs, in coastal and seaward coral reefs, often near sponges, 10–30 m depth. Marine.
