Centropyge vrolikii (Bleeker 1853) —Pearl-scale angelfish
Status at New Ireland. First recorded from St. Mathias as Holacanthus vroliki by Duncker & Mohr (1929: 73); reported from Kavieng, New Ireland as Centropyge vroliki by Kailola (1975: 159). KFRS and ZMH material. A specimen photographed on 2 June 2013, first dive, during ACIAR Aquarium Survey at Kavieng; a video of a specimen taken off Nubilus Island, off southeastern New Hanover, at 3–32 m depth, St. KR88, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2, 4.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Caroline Islands, north to southern Japan and Ogasawara Islands, south to northern Australia and Lord Howe Island. Solitary or in groups, in sheltered coastal reefs and on seaward reef slopes, 3–25 m depth. Marine.
