Status at New Ireland. New record, based on NTUM 11329 (1 specimen, 67.8 mm SL, St. CP 4492-4, northwest of New Hanover).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1.—General distribution: Sulawesi (Indonesia) and Papua New Guinea east to Gilbert Islands (Kiribati) and Solomon Islands. Solitary or in pairs, on steep seaward reef slopes, 10–60 m depth. Marine.
