Centropyge nox (Bleeker 1853) —Midnight angelfish

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed on 4–5 June 2013 during ACIAR Aquarium Survey in Kavieng District (see Teitelbaum et al. 2013: 14); others photographed at St. KVG24 (off northwestern Bauddisson Island) by Serge Andréfouët on 22 Aug. 2014; a video of a specimen taken at Tungelo Island, off southeastern New Hanover, at 3–46 m depth, St. KR104, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell). WAM material (WAM P.28186-004, 1 specimen, Kavieng).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Philippines and Vanuatu, north to southern Japan, south to Queensland (Australia) and New Caledonia. Solitary or in groups, secretive, in coral-rich areas or coral rubble of lagoon and seaward coral reefs, 3–70 m depth. Marine.
