Amblyglyphidodon aureus (Cuvier [ex Kuhl & Hasselt] in Cuvier & Valenciennes 1830)—Golden damselfish

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed on 4–5 June 2013 during ACIAR Aquarium Survey in Kavieng District. A specimen photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng District at 16 m depth by Dean Tully in Sept. 2015 ; another photographed at St. KVG28 (southeast of New Hanover) by Serge Andréfouët on 24 Aug. 2014 .

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Andaman Sea and Indonesia east to Caroline Islands and Fiji, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found on steep slopes of seaward coral reefs, 3–45 m depth. Marine.
