Status at New Ireland. New record, based on specimens photographed at Lissenung Island, Kavieng region by Dietmar Amon on 16 Aug. 2009; specimens photographed in June 2013 during ACIAR Aquarium Survey (see Teitelbaum et al. 2013: 14); a video of a specimen taken at Martha's Shoal, east of New Hanover, St. KR 154, at 6– 20 m depth, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Eastern Indonesia east to Caroline Islands and Vanuatu, north to Philippines, south to New Caledonia. Found in lagoons and on seaward reef slopes, commensal with sea anemones, 1–18 m depth. Marine.
