Abudefduf lorenzi Hensley & Allen 1977 —Blacktail sergeant

Status at New Ireland. Reported from mouth of Kulineua River, New Hanover in original description by Hensley & Allen (1977: 109), based on CSIRO C452 (1 paratype); previously misidentified as Abudefduf bengalensis(non Bloch, 1787) by Munro (1958: 229); a video of a specimen taken east of Nago Island, Kavieng District, at 2–9 m depth, St. KR28, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Palau and New Guinea, south to Solomon Islands. Found in aggregations in sheltered coastal reefs and lagoon habitats, 0–6 m depth. Marine.
