Chrysiptera cyanea (Quoy & Gaimard 1825) —Blue devil
Status at New Ireland. First recorded from New Hanover as Glyphidodon assimilis by Peters (1877: 843); reported as Abudefduf assimilis by Munro (1958: 229); specimens photohraphed in Kavieng area in June 2013 during ACIAR Aquarium Survey (see Teitelbaum et al. 2013: 14).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Indonesia east to Caroline and Solomon islands, north to Ryukyu Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found in sheltered coastal and lagoon reefs, 0–10 m depth. Marine.
