Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a specimen photographed at St. KVG24 (off northwestern Bauddisson Island, Kavieng District) by Serge Andréfouët on 22 Aug. 2014; a video of a specimen taken at Nubilus Island, off eastern New Hanover, at 3–32 m depth, St. KR 88, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell).
Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Andaman Sea and Indonesia east to Palau and Solomon Islands, south to northern Australia and New Caledonia. Found in lagoons, coastal and seaward reefs, 1–35 m depth. Marine.
