Chromis amboinensis (Bleeker 1871) — Ambon chromis

Status at New Ireland. New record, based on a video of a specimen taken west of Albatross Passage, southwestern Kavieng District, St. KR50, in 2014 (identified by Barry C. Russell); another taken at Nubilus Island, off eastern New Hanover, at 3–32 m depth, St. KR88, in 2014.

Distribution and habitat. New Ireland: 1, 2.—General distribution: Christmas and Cocos-Keeling Islands east to Micronesia and Papua New Guinea, north to Yaeyama Islands, south to Western Australia and Queensland (Australia). Found in lagoons and seaward reef slopes, 5–65 m depth. Marine.
